Homework Expectations:
It is recommended that students complete 60-120 minutes of Khan Academy per week to review and practice topics in the current unit as well as in their own areas of need. Suggested topics will be listed on the homework board in class. Short math activities may be assigned from time to time to build home and school connections between topics. Homework Books The grade 8 students will occasionally bring home math workbooks to assist in review and to use as a homework resource in addition to the activities and worksheets assigned in class and available on the internet. At the beginning of each section there is a brief review of the lesson, with explicit examples, which the students can use to review vocabulary and procedures for the skill. This is followed by sample practice questions. These books are not to be written in. Students have a blank notebook for recording their work. |
Homework Week One: Create a Khan Academy account, complete pre-test and add Mrs. Rashid as a coach. Detailed instructions are on the page below. Now that you have created an account, your goal for the weekend is to complete 60 minutes (or more) of work on Khan Academy. I would like everyone to work on Order of Operation questions and watch the introductory video. After that you can choose which videos or activities you would like to work on based on your own needs or what Khan Academy recommends to you. https://www.khanacademy.org/math/pre-algebra/order-of-operations/order_of_operations/v/introduction-to-order-of-operations |
